Job Purpose

To assist and support the Right Start and School Nursing Service in the delivery of Oldham Right Start Early Years offer and the School Nurse led Healthy Child Programme - 5-19 years.

To promote key public health messages to improve children and young people’s outcomes

To provide Brief Interventions as identified

To co-ordinate identified screening programmes under the direction of the Team Leader.

To work as part of an integrated Team to deliver Universal and Targeted Intervention Programmes where it has been identified that a package of support is required to enable the child to meet developmental milestones.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

Delivering the Healthy Child Programme 5-19

Work as part of a skill mixed Team following agreed protocols.

Provide support to deliver the core Universal contacts of the Healthy Child Programme 5-19.

Provide appropriate, evidenced based advice to families, in the school or home setting, on a range of topics/issues.

Provide Brief Interventions as identified

Help to organise and support Primary School drop-ins where the Right Start & School Nursing Assistant is deemed by the School Nurse/PHCN to be to be the most suitable person.

Provide timely feedback to the named School Nurse/PHCN on work carried out in the Drop in/School.

Manage issues of a sensitive nature (eg Safeguarding) observing information security and confidentiality following Policies and Procedures laid down by the Trust.

Reports to the appropriate School Nurse/PHCN when there are any concerns about a child (this includes; physical/emotional or developmental condition of child, environmental concerns etc.)

Adhere to Local Safeguarding policy and procedure to enable relevant referrals to be made to Children’s Social Care under the supervision of the SN/PHCN.

Delivery of NCMP, vision and hearing screening in named schools under the direction of the School Nurse/PHN

Support delivery of all national screening programmes undertaken by the School Nursing Service
