You will deliver swallowing and communication rehabilitation to adults recovering from a stroke in the hospital setting under the direction of the Speech and Language Therapy team. This will involve working with Speech and Language Therapists on therapy and rehabilitation programmes and activities to support the individual’s recovery. This may include group work, working with computer based therapy and 1:1 patient specific therapy programmes to support the individual’s recovery, working towards their individual goals. You will access the support and direction of registered Speech and Language Therapists as well as the wider multidisciplinary stroke team.

The stroke team are a creative and innovative team offering a supportive environment with opportunities to learn and develop.

You will be working under the direction of registered Speech and Language Therapists and be responsible for the development, organization and planning of resources needed for assessment and therapy.

You will work in a multidisciplinary team in the hospital setting to deliver individual and group communication and swallowing rehabilitation to individuals recovering from stroke.

You will be expected to input data into specific databases for audit purposes, complete observations, gather information and maintain case note records in line with Health Board and Departmental standards.

You will use knowledge and experience of stroke related speech, language, swallowing and communication difficulties to observe and feedback to the Speech and Language Therapists regarding progress made against goals and therapy objectives.

You will be based at Neath Port Talbot Hospital but may be required to work across all areas of the stroke pathway. You will be required to be punctual, flexible and able to travel between hospital sites when necessary in a timely manner.
