There is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, innovative Therapy Assistant Practitioner (TAP) to join the Children and Young Person’s Weight Management Service. The successful applicant will be joining the multi-disciplinary service, offering a unique opportunity to influence, shape and help develop the service particularly to optimise engagement from young people. The post is permanent, full time (37.5 hours per week), and provides a service across the Swansea Bay University Health Board areas in a variety of settings.

We are looking for a TAP with knowledge and experience of working with children, young people and their families with specific experience of working with youth (age 11-18). You will be required to work with high level of autonomy managing a complex caseload and should be able to demonstrate a strong ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

The team consists of an operational lead, a psychologist, a dietitian, a physiotherapist, a consultant paediatrician, nurse and two support workers and will work to the All Wales Obesity Pathway for Children and Young People and Welsh Government standards. The post holder will have the opportunity to work creatively and collaboratively with children, young people, families, team colleagues and the wider systems, offering a broad range of interventions to include 1:1 as well as group interventions.

You will be responsible for supporting the Children and Young Persons’ Weight Management Service (CYPWMS) multidisciplinary team to plan, deliver and evaluate interventions to support children and young people with complex obesity and their families with a specific emphasis on developing innovative services that will engage young people.

You will have a delegated caseload of mainly young people to support the patient and families with weight loss. You will be expected to liaise with a number of stakeholders, co-ordinate care and report back to the MDT. You will support the work of clinicians in the multidisciplinary team and would be required to work within your Professional Code of Conduct for assistants.

You will receive supervision and mentoring in your role.
