**Job summary**:
The International and Economic Security Directorate has responsibility for international policy and strategy, economic security and semiconductor policy in the department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT). The roles in our teams bring together strategic thinkers and international experts from across government as well as from the private sector.

We work closely with the Cabinet Office, Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, HM Treasury, Department for Business and Trade as well as No.10 and sit on the key cross-government groups for international and security policy. We lead on a multitude of areas including economic security, international policy and HMG engagement in global digital technical standards.

**Job description**:
The **Semiconductor Strategy and Policy Team** is seeking two individuals to assist in shaping strategic **international semiconductor policy**, drive international engagement with key partners and work closely with other departments to protect the UK’s national security interests. In these roles, responsibilities will include:

- ** International engagement**: lead delivery of bilateral and multilateral engagement with partners such as the US, the EU, RoK, Japan and China, and build deep expertise of their policies.
- ** Represent across government**: Establish strong relationships with key departments and support DSIT interests in key discussions, including regular participation in cross-HMG fora, and preparing senior officials and Ministers for high level engagement.
- ** External engagement**:Engaging with experts and businesses in certain technological fields to inform and implement UK policy.
- ** Managing casework**: scrutinising transactions as the sectoral expert for potential government interventions, for example through the National Security & Investment Act.

The team are also seeking an individual to assist in shaping **domestic semiconductor policy**, designing and delivering interventions in support of the National Semiconductor Strategy and driving engagement with industry and academia. In this role, responsibilities will include:

- Delivering the National Semiconductor Strategy’s domestic growth agenda, contributing to the design and implementation of policy interventions to boost the UK semiconductor sector in areas such as R&D, infrastructure and skills.
- External engagement: Engaging with experts and businesses in semiconductor and related technological fields to inform and implement UK policy. This will include working closely with the UK Semiconductor Advisory Panel, a group of leading industry figures working with government on implementation of the National Semiconductor Strategy.
- Represent across government: Establish strong relationships with key departments and bodies and support DSIT interests in key discussions, including preparing senior officials and Ministers for high level engagement.
- Managing casework: scrutinising transactions as the sectoral expert for potential government interventions, for example through the National Security & Investment Act.
