**Job summary**:

- The Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) was created in February 2023 and will focus on positioning the UK at the forefront of global scientific and technological advancement. It will build on our strong foundations of world-class research, a thriving technology scene and global networks of collaboration to create a golden thread from outstanding basic science to innovations that change lives and sustain economic growth. It will direct record levels of Research and Development, and deliver talent programmes, physical and digital infrastructure and regulation to support our economy, security, public services and wider Government priorities. DSIT brings together the relevant parts of the former Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and the former Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), alongside teams from the Cabinet Office and the Government Office for Science.**Job description**:
expertise in innovation and technology, combined with the ability to communicate, influence, set direction, and deliver. This is an exciting opportunity to shape decision-making at the future frontiers of government policy and to have an impact across a broad range of HMG (His Majesty’s Government) goals.

In addition to the role of National Technology Adviser, the post holder will also be DSIT’s Chief Scientific Adviser (CSA). They will be responsible for ensuring that the Department’s policies are based on the best available science and engineering evidence, and for championing the use of innovation in how DSIT operates.
Working closely with the GCSA, the job holder will play a key role in HMG’s Chief Scientific Advisers network and provide leadership of the science & technology community across government.

- need to be highly accomplished at forming positive relationships at the most senior levels in Government, industry and academia and be able to draw on a wide range of skills

- have substantial experience in forming and leading high-performing virtual teams in highly matrixed organisations with a strong focus on empowerment and diversity
- have a first-class reputation in technology demonstrated by high status international recognition.
