The School of Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences is seeking to appoint a part-time, teaching-intensive Lecturer in Speech and Language Therapy. The appointed individual will join our collegiate and research-active team of academic and clinical staff who deliver high-quality teaching, clinical training and dissertation supervision to students on our highly regarded undergraduate and postgraduate speech and language therapy programmes. We are looking for applicants who specialise in paediatric disorders of speech, language or communication and/or eating, drinking and swallowing.
The position is available on a part time (up to 0.6 fte) permanent basis commencing in October 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Successful applicants will have a speech and language therapy qualification with experience of clinical practice in a specialist capacity in paediatric speech/ language/communication and/or eating, drinking and swallowing disorders. They will have experience of teaching in a higher education setting and/or supporting speech and language therapy students in a clinical educator capacity, and a passion for providing and supporting an excellent student learning experience. Applicants should be willing to contribute to the highly collaborative, inter-disciplinary and collegiate environment at the University of Reading.
Successful applicants will have
- a BSc/MSc/MSci in Speech and language therapy (or equivalent speech and language therapy qualification)
- HCPC registration or be eligible to register with the HCPC
- have clinical practice experience in a specialist capacity in paediatric speech/ language/communication and/or eating, drinking and swallowing disorders.
- experience of supporting/supervising/teaching students on SLT programmes
- a passion for supporting an excellent student experience
- a commitment to professionalism in undertaking their responsibilities and in their interactions with colleagues and students
