Practice Facilitator

The post holder will have responsibility for coordinating the training and practice experience of one or more District Nursing Specialist Practitioner Students including assessing and verifying students meet the practice requirements stipulated. In addition, the post holder will oversee and support the competency assessments of the registered nurses, both new and established across the District Nursing Service. Supporting the Team Leader and other District Nurses and Team members with clinical matters and being a source of clinical expertise. The post holder will play a vital part in the delivery of of the Clinical Induction Programme for New Starters
Clinical and Professional
Make a unique contribution to the education, training and development of post registration students and colleagues at all levels within the community setting.
Act as an educator and assessor for Specialist Practitioner students during clinical placements of academic course and facilitating other students as appropriate. It is recommended by the NMC that a practice teacher has one specialist practice student per year.
Have a broad understanding of clinical practice and therefore provide a significant contribution to the education of students and current practitioners. Take a lead in professional development within the clinical teams and the development of evidence based clinical practice.
Maintain clinical competence.
Through multi professional workings develop clinical standards that will be regularly evaluated and share best practice. Ensure implementation of agreed /approved standards across the area of responsibility.
Through mentorship/ preceptorship create a learning environment to ensure effective learning experiences and opportunities to achieve learning outcomes for all students and registered practitioners.
