We are looking for a cheerful, conscientious and adaptable person to join our team providing clerical support including reception and booking administration duties in the Headland Unit and Haematology department.

Applicants should have excellent communication skills, be self-motivated and able to make full use of the computer systems after training. Common sense, a willingness to learn and the ability to remain calm under pressure are essential attributes applicants will require for this post. You would be joining a dedicated administrative team that supports patient care. You will need to be able to work in a calm, logical and methodical way but be able to multi-task whilst dealing with frequent interruptions, and you must possess effective communication skills.

You should have good keyboard skills and previous experience in a healthcare setting would be an advantage. You will be required to have a good level of education and have experience in Administration and Clerical duties with good customer care skills. The successful post holders will be expected to cover colleagues in times of sickness and annual leave. Full training will be given on IT systems.

Reception duties using PAS, ARIA and Radar.

Cross cover haematology and the Headland Unit, and the Sunrise Centre when required.

Updating PAS with attendances, outcomes, RTT and procedure codes.

To welcome patients and visitors to the Haematology department and the Headland Unit with understanding and empathy.

To cross cover the Sunrise Centre reception when required.

To update the Patient Administration System (PAS) and Aria as required following Trust policy and procedure ensuring accuracy of patient demographics.

To answer the telephone in accordance with the department procedures.

To ensure patient Attendances, Outcomes, Referral to Treatment (RTT) and Procedure codes are recorded accurately and in a timely manner on PAS in line with Trust policies and procedures.

Receive oncology and haematology patients to ensure the efficient throughput of patients working within Cancer Standard Guidelines in accordance with department procedures and booking rules.

Where required request non-emergency transport for patients

Register patients in accordance with departmental policy on the Patient Administration System (PAS).

To understand the complete range of administration functions, responsibilities and duties both routine and non-routine to contribute to the effective delivery of patient care, through knowledge of hospital systems and consultant practice.

To admit and discharge patients in a timely manner, correctly onto PAS to enable efficient Clinical Coding
