Accounts Assistant

Provide comprehensive administrative support for finance, assisting the Financial Controller, Project Cost Controller, and Senior Accountant. Responsibilities include maintaining financial records, processing invoices and posting journals, ensuring compliance with financial regulations. Role will also support month-end and year-end closing processes. Role will be required to utilise accounting software (Xero) to enhance efficiency and maintain organised documentation.
**Key Duties & Accountabilities**:
**Accounts Payables**:
- Process invoices, expense claims, and payment requests.
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Ensure timely and accurate payment of all supplier invoices.
**Accounts Receivable**:
- Assist with the preparation and issue of invoices to customers.
- Monitor and follow up on outstanding invoices and debts.
- Assist with credit control and collections.
**Bank Reconciliation**:
- Perform daily bank reconciliations.
- Investigate and resolve any discrepancies promptly.
**General Ledger**:
- Assist in maintaining the general ledger by posting and allocating transactions.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
- Prepare journal entries as needed.
**Financial Reporting**:
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and reports.
- Provide support during audits and liaise with auditors as required.
**Administrative Duties**:
- Maintain and organize financial records and documentation.
- Respond to queries from suppliers, customers, and internal departments.
- Provide general administrative support to the finance team.
**Person Specification**:
**Knowledge & Qualifications**:
- Relevant further education qualifications in business, administration or accountancy would be beneficial.
- Experience with Xero accounting software is essential.
**Skills**:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proactive and willing to learn.
**Experience**:
- Previous experience in a similar role in Finance is preferred.
This role can be offered on a full-time or part-time basis.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: £20,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
Expected hours: 20 - 36.25 per week
