**Role Purpose**:
To support HMICFRS delivery through:

- Research exercises and quantitative and qualitative analysis of current and future issues relating to the protection of vulnerable people.
- Undertake performance audits in key areas including child abuse, rape and serious sexual offences, domestic abuse and child protection and exploitation.
- Develop and support the implementation of new and revised policies and procedural instructions through the production of guidance documents, communication materials and the development of staff training.
- Monitor Force progress in respect of the above.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Complete research and analysis of current and future issues potentially impacting on the management and future direction of the Force and Department in respect of the protection of vulnerable people.
- Carry out research and draft internal and external documentation to support the organisation and assist in preparation of briefing papers.
- Carry out quantitative and qualitative research relating to relevant topics, submit findings and provide recommendations in concise reports to support HMICFRS delivery.
- At the direction of senior management, undertake audits accurately to assess Force performance in key areas including child abuse, protection and exploitation, rape and serious sexual offences and domestic abuse.
- Present project findings at organisational meeting forums including Force Performance Day.
- Assist senior management in project development processes, including: the formulation of delivery plans, auditing processes and review mechanisms.
- Attend meetings with internal and external partners to review current and future practices and, where appropriate, assist in the review, design and development of effective policies and procedures.
- Maintain departmental information, resources and operator guides through the development and maintenance of the PVP Performance and Governance intranet site.
