**Role Purpose**:
Support the Force Drugs Lead in delivering the Force Drug Strategy liaising with Local Authorities to;
- Assist in the prevention of drug related deaths by contributing to the drug related deaths review processes across the South Yorkshire areas.
- Provide live time data relating to suspected drug related deaths.
- Contribute to Local Drug Information Systems (early warning systems) by providing information and intelligence in relation to new and/or novel, potent, adulterated, or contaminated drugs.
- Assist the Force Drug Lead in the formulation and delivery of the Force Drugs Problem Profile recommendations, including updating CDPs across the region of progress/issues in relation to Police National Drug Strategy Priorities

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Research police information systems, liaise with investigating and HM Coroners Officers and review documentation relating to suspected drug related deaths/non-fatal overdoses (near misses) in South Yorkshire.
- Collate and analyse data e.g. information from Gen18s, update systems, including the DARD Systems for each of the local authorities and publish documentation, liaise with partners and external agencies to provide them with live time surveillance information from South Yorkshire.
- Provide regular reports for key partner organisations on Drug and Alcohol Deaths
- Where necessary, make contact with members of the public and bereaved families to ascertain further information and provide pathways to support.
- Liaise and link with the Suicide Prevention Officer to ensure cases are not reviewed by both review processes where it is uncertain whether the death is drug related or a suspected suicide.
- Participate/attend regular meetings, such as drug related death review panels/mortality reviews and early warning meetings, with partners across the region to discuss suspected drug related deaths/near miss incidents.
- Contribute to decision-making and utilise learning from drug related death review panels/mortality reviews and live time surveillance to contribute to prevention work across the region, including educational settings as required
- Liaise with the Force Drugs Lead to implement any lessons learned from drug related death reviews that are identified for SYP practice.
- Collate and disseminate National, Regional and Local updates from Force Lead to and between partners.
- Work with partners to formulate the response and implementation of ‘Early Warning Systems’ relating to non-fatal overdoses and drug related deaths.
- Work with the Force Drugs Lead to assist with the formulation and delivery of the Force Drugs Problem Profile recommendations.
- Provide partners with information as required in line with the ISA, assisting where deemed appropriate with issues raised at the Combatting Drugs Partnership meetings, attending these meetings where necessary.
- Maintain awareness of organisational priorities around drugs death prevention, as well as local and national perspective.
- Perform such other duties as reasonably correspond to the general character of the post and are commensurate with its level of responsibility.
