We are looking for a receptionist that can help support the running of the busy Obs & Gynae Emergency department, Wards & Outpatient areas on rotation. The role includes working within 7 day (Monday - Sunday) service, including areas of GEAC & O&G Admin team to support the service as required between core hours of 8:00 - 18:00.
- Provide effective and efficient support to nursing and medical staff as required.
- To provide all aspects of computer and clerical work for staff and patients in the clinical area ensuring the smooth running of the department.
- Ensure all patients, relatives and visitors are greeted in a polite and professional manner.

The administrative role is a vital part of enabling the Team to function and the applicant should be a willing to work as part of a team as well as having the ability to work autonomously.

To provide an efficient and comprehensive administration and reception service between Obstetrics & Gynaecology areas.

Provide administrative cover for GEAC, Spencer Ward/Day care, and outpatient areas within O&G.

Filing a high volume of patient records in the base notes in a timely manner.

To be an initial point of contact within the department providing appropriate responses and onward directions to all callers in a courteous manner. Deal with telephone enquiries, take messages accurately, and give information and advice (not medical) to GPs, patients, relatives, and other staff involved with the patient in a manner responsive to customer needs and in accordance with Trust procedures.

Use Patient Administration System (PAS) to check and update patient details as required and record changes of address and GP.

Book in and direct all patients who attend the department or ward

Input and update data on the computer system ensuring accurate tracking steps are logged for each patient on screen across the GEAC Department. Upon discharge ensure all patients have been correctly admitted, discharged or transferred appropriately.

Assist the Nurse in Charge in the discharge process of patients.

To arrange the most appropriate transport for discharge / transfer and follow up clinics.

To undertake any clerical duties as deemed necessary.

Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all members of the multidisciplinary team.

Maintain patient confidentiality.

To be aware of Health and Safety and Infection Control regulations within the department.

Maintain the knowledge and skills necessary to perform your role effectively and ensure evidence of competence is provided to line manager
