We have an exciting opportunity for a Price Strategy Manager to join our team. In this highly analytical commercial role you'll have wide latitude to make decisions - developing and executing price and promotion strategies, analytics and processes for SouthernCo-op, to ensure we maintain a competitive position relative to our competitors.

**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**
- In conjunction with Head of Trading and Format, develop the pricing and promotions strategy and frameworks, at all times optimising commercial performance and maintain competitive positioning within the market.
- Own and manage the continued optimisation of pricing and promotions based upon the strategy and framework, responding to all review points
- Monitor ‘competitor price index’ measurements, for movement and variances, and define any required strategic or remedial actions as required
- Own, define and maintain the documented business processes for pricing and promotions, including operational requirements. Actively manage risks and controls, in line with internal auditing.
- Review and make recommendations on the creation and maintenance of individual category or location pricing rules.
- Manage the ongoing development of pricing metrics to enable the sharing of pricing insight to a wide audience, aiding business decision making.
- Understand and keep abreast of all legislative requirements and changes, and take the necessary actions to achieve compliance and minimise business risk.
- Develop targeted customer / member sales initiatives to achieve business objectives.
- Own and define stock exit strategies to manage residual stock in stores.
- Define strategies to leverage customer behaviour in conjunction with ‘Trading and Merchandise’ & ‘Space and Range Planning’ teams.
- Liaise with centralised group buying team to resolve any challenges on pricing and promotional activity

**KEY EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS**
- Knowledge of the UK food retail market, specifically the price/promotion and trading strategies of major players in the destination, top-up and convenience sectors is preferred
- Sound commercial awareness including customer segmentation and shopping mission analysis, gained in FMCG and preferably food retail sectors.
- Proven experience working in a pricing function, with exposure to ‘Competitor Price Indices’. Able to work autonomously and make sound decisions independently.
- Ability to think strategically and contribute to wider business planning and development
- Able to communicate and influence at all levels including Leadership Team, with strong presentation & interpretation skills, and experience of explaining advanced & complex statistical results to a non-technical audience
- Team leadership experience, managing specialists and coaching skills. Collaborative and resilient in style, with excellent communication and influencing skills, able to build strong cross-functional relationships
- Prepared to travel through the UK including occasional overnight stops.
