GM Cancer Alliance is expanding the Cancer Academy team. We are looking to appoint an EDI Educator to provide essential strategic direction and operational leadership to the Academy team in designing, delivering, and developing education. The postholder will lead the development and delivery of a system-wide EDI training package, offering expert advice. Working with key forums and stakeholders across the Greater Manchester Integrated Care System to develop an offer that is responsive to workforce need, and a sustainable train the trainer model. The post-holder will also support educational initiatives within the GM Cancer Alliance Early Diagnosis programme working directly with the Health Inequalities Project Manager.

The post is 22.5 hours per week (flexible days) and is 12-months fixed term. Only secondment requests will be considered.
- Responsible for the delivery and development of an EDI educational offer for the Greater Manchester cancer workforce
- Collate, develop and share best practice tools and other materials to support the development and delivery of high quality learning informed by education theory
- Based on identified needs, establish and manage EDI educational delivery through the GM Cancer Academy to support and showcase good practice
- Liaise with stakeholders across the GM Integrated Care System to share best practice and to ensure a consideration of opportunities around Diversity and Inclusion are appropriately considered within processes
- Drive engagement internally and externally through various channels, including social media
- Develop cultural competency of the health and care workforce through training and informal learning
- Plan and organise events, workshops or webinars with the Cancer Academy to foster knowledge exchange and peer learning on EDI
- Report to the Cancer Academy Clinical Oversight Group on all aspects of activities within the scope of this project, delivering sometimes complex and challenging information
- Support the development, implementation and monitoring of the strategic EDI workforce and education objectives, ensuring key performance indicators are monitored and reported

Greater Manchester Cancer Alliance (GM Cancer) is a venture that brings together patients, charities, NHS and academic institutions with the aim of securing world-class cancer outcomes and experience for our population. Greater Manchester Cancer is the cancer programme of the Greater Manchester Integrated Care Board.

GM Cancer Academy is a Programme of work within the Workforce and Education Programme. The team are dynamic, diligent, and passionate about supporting the cancer workforce to ensure they have equitable access to training and education to develop the right skills to respond to the needs of people affected by cancer, adapt to new, improved ways of working, continue to modernise the way they work, and embrace technology to deliver the best quality healthcare.

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of cancer workforce and education in Greater Manchester, and to essentially improve outcomes for people affected by cancer.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Knowledge sharing and influencing
- Responsible for the delivery and development of an EDI educational offer for the Greater Manchester cancer workforce
- Collate, develop and share best practice tools and other materials to support the development and delivery of high quality learning informed by education theory
- Based on identified needs, establish and manage EDI educational delivery through the GM Cancer Academy to support and showcase good practice
- Act as point of contact for staff across the Greater Manchester conurbation, signposting resources, events and providing day-to-day guidance, to include the delivery of action learning sets and informal supervision
- Liaise with stakeholders across the GM Integrated Care System to share best practice and to ensure a consideration of opportunities around Diversity and Inclusion are appropriately considered within processes
- Drive engagement internally and externally through various channels, including social media.
- Build relationships with organisations to ensure that learning is informed by the latest developments and research
- Identify diversity and/or inclusion accreditation and lead work to meet the objectives required
- Support the EDI education requirements linked to specific workforce initiatives
