The Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA) is a part of the Ministry of Defence responsible for the procurement, in-service support, and disposal of the UK’s nuclear submarines. **Job description**:
Are you looking for an exciting entry level career opportunity in a Cost Estimating role? Do you want a role working on once-in-a-lifetime projects with ample opportunity for career progression? If so, this could be the perfect position for you

Cost Estimating is a vital part of what we do, ensuring the delivery of significant projects to our customers, on budget and on time. You will be involved in supporting the delivery of various Submarine projects, ranging from estimating the next generation to the disposal of older submarines and everything in between.

The SDA have an exciting opportunity for a Estimator to join the SDA Cost Management

It is expected that all staff will work full time and be available for 8-10 weeks training at a training venue in Bristol within the first 4-6 months of the scheme.

**Barrow location only**:
This role offers successful applicants the following:
**External Applicants**: First Appointment Expenses up to a limit of £8,000
**Internal Applicants**: Internal Applicants will be eligible for full relocation expenses.

**Person specification**:
In this role, you will be entrusted with:

- Assist in the creation of robust Basis of Estimate.
- Identify and manipulate data using a range of sources, normalisation requirements and techniques.
- Support the generation of confidence level outputs using Monte Carlo techniques.
- Support the generation of cost estimating outputs using the JAMES cost model and domain generic models.
- Monitor key stakeholder outputs to ensure that estimates are provided to the required standard and completed prior to submission timelines.
- Assist in the creation, maintenance and operation of cost models.
- Communicate key estimate information and uncertainties to members of the project and programme.

**Qualifications**:
- Hold 5 GCSE levels grade C or above or an equivalent Level 2 qualification.
- Experience in the use of analytical tools and techniques, such as Excel.- Willingness to work towards gaining a relevant professional accreditation.
- Evidence of experience of working in a numerical role and being responsible for a small budget.
- Evidence of experience of working in a Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) role.
