**Job summary**:
The Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA) is a part of the Ministry of Defence responsible for the procurement, in-service support, and disposal of the UK’s nuclear submarines. Our work is of unparalleled strategic importance nationally and internationally, ensuring the security of the UK’s continuous at-sea nuclear deterrent, and delivering some of the most technically complex programmes in defence. Since April 1969, the Royal Navy has delivered the Continuous At-Sea Deterrent (CASD) under the codename ‘Operation Relentless’. At least one of four nuclear-armed submarines, supported by smaller attack submarines, is on patrol at all times: 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. These submarines provide the ultimate guarantee of our national security. What we do is vital to this guarantee.

**Job description**:

We are currently seeking Commercial Officers for our Submarine Acquisition Programme in Barrow, and to provide Commercial leadership more broadly within the SDA. The Submarine Acquisition team are responsible for delivery and future in-service support of the Dreadnought Submarine Programme, the Astute Class Programme and the delivery of a future class of manned nuclear-powered submarine. They also manage the strategic relationship between SDA and its Primary Supplier, ensuring coherence across the SDA contracts and owning the supplier development plan.

**About the role**
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

- Determine the appropriate commercial actions for requirements, draft strategy plans, contract management plans and facilitate key aspects of the delivery. Ensure all contracts adhere to EU procurement regulations and Government policy.
- Lead and/or assist (depending on project value) in the portfolio management of Category A - D contracts ensuring contract obligations are met in line with the contract and business requirements.
- Draft contract documentation in accordance with MOD policy and legislation.
- Negotiate terms and pricing, place and manage contracts and contract amendments up to a maximum delegation of £2.5M in accordance with set guidelines and conditions outlined in the individual’s delegation letter and the MOD policy.
