We are seeking an Air Quality Mitigation Officer to join the dynamic Natural Environment Team at Dorset Council. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to:

- Make a meaningful difference: As Air Quality Mitigation Officer, you will play a vital role in delivering projects that address the adverse effects of nitrogen affecting Dorset’s internationally important heathland sites. You will develop an effective implementation plan, working with others to achieve the best results.

- Work with a wide range of people including landowners, key stakeholders and other council teams leading exciting and diverse projects that meet our heathland mitigation on air quality objectives.

**What you can expect to be doing**

As the lead for the delivery of air quality mitigation for the Dorset Heaths, you will collaborate closely with other teams and stakeholders including the Urban Health Partnership, land managers, and developers to make a positive impact on the natural environment.

Here's what you can expect in this exciting role:

- Collaborate with Natural Environment Team colleagues, and the wider dynamic group of teams making up the Environmental Advice Team (EAT) for Dorset Council and with the BCP Council Strategic Greenspace Team in BCP.
- Establish and commission an air quality monitoring programme in line with the Dorset Heathland Interim Air quality Strategy.
- Take charge of coordinating a diverse range of air quality projects, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to maximize results.
- Lead on preparing and ensuring delivery and evaluation of an implementation plan for air quality mitigation in relation to Dorset heathland sites.

**About you**
- A relevant degree and a good understanding of the current planning system and emerging environmental legislation.
- Knowledge and experience in environmental management, air quality assessment, nature conservation, UK ecology.
- Have project management experience for delivering practical conservation projects.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Desirable: Familiarity with Dorset Heaths - wildlife and habitats.
