Evershot Farms Ltd is located between Yeovil and Dorchester and are looking for a passionate, motivated individual to join our team, working within the dairy. We are a farm dedicated to producing milk at the highest standard. With a recent investment we have modernised the dairy and incorporated the latest technology to improve animal and staff welfare.

You will need to be someone who is self-motivated, enjoys physical work, working in a team, and will need to have a ‘can do’ attitude. Experience is not required although reliability and willingness to learn are essential.

We are looking for someone to do three shifts in a week, Monday to Sunday. The shifts consist of 10 hours, with breaks. (3am - 2pm and 1.30pm - 12am). In an emergency, an employee may be called to work at short notice on a scheduled day off. There would be a mix of shifts, and would only be one shift on a weekend per month. These shifts can be flexible.

Your job will include harvesting the milk from the cows in a professional and efficient manner, to produce a high-quality dairy product, and to promote animal well-being. You will have an induction period to enable you to understand and adhere to the proper protocols, including procedures around handling cattle, dairy hygiene and safety protocols.

Your primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Follow all correct procedures and safety protocols shown in the induction.
- Prepare equipment and storage areas for milking.
- Bring in cows for milking including assisting other employees if requested.
- Milk all cows in an orderly, proper and consistent manner.
- Keep the milk from treated cows separated from the untreated herd.
- Inform the supervisor of cows that may have mastitis or other problems.
- Treatment of the cows as advised by the supervisor.
- Clean the milking parlour, holding area and milk storage area ensuring all machinery and sanitation procedures are followed according to manufacturer’s specification.

Additional milking related activities:

- Advise the supervisor of any products in short supply.
- Clip udders, freeze brand and perform other procedures that promote accurate identification and animal well-being.

Additional employee responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following responsibilities:

- Record keeping
- Cleaning and maintenance of office building
- Maintenance of grounds and surrounding area.

COVID-19 considerations:
Employees work in teams and are provided with PPE, and sanitizing equipment. The environment is open with plenty of air circulation.
