Within the Workforce and Organisational Development Directorate we are looking to recruit a Health and Wellbeing Mental Health Engagement Advisor on a 12 month fixed term contract.
We are looking for a Band 6 member of staff, who share the value and belief that the health and wellbeing of our employees is important if YAS are to achieve its vision of being trusted as the best urgent and emergency care provider, with the best people and partnerships, delivering the best outcomes for patients.

- Ensuring health and wellbeing is considered and embedded across work supporting organisational development, change management, employee relations, workforce planning, equality diversity and inclusion, and providing specialist mental health advice in response to business needs.
- Provide excellent facilitation skills to engage staff and system wide partners. Skilled at being able to create a psychological safe and confidential space for staff to speak openly.
- Using your Health and Wellbeing knowledge and expertise to identify opportunities for employee training in health and wellbeing topics e.g., mental health training
- The post holder will have specific responsibility for leading the trust on several employee health and wellbeing engagement activities, with particular emphasis on enhancing the Trusts mental health support offer and the employee experience at being able to access support.
- Being a figure head and role model for Health and Wellbeing at the Trust, with the ability to be flexible and travel throughout the Trusts regional operating areas to engage with employees.
- Be able to design and deliver staff development and training courses, taking a lead to plan training, delivery training/facilitation sessions and evaluate impact.
Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) NHS Trust geographically covers nearly 6,000 square miles of varied terrain, from isolated moors and dales to urban areas, coastline and inner cities.

- Work with departments and external partners to take a leading role in collaborating, investigating and understand opportunities for greater more effective and efficient working to support staff health and wellbeing.
- Take the lead role in developing, designing, co-ordinating and facilitating employee engagement activities and appropriate interventions for the Trust. This will include working with staff on both a one-to-one and group basis approach.
- Communicate with employees via a multiplatform approach (e.g. social media, internal communication channels and in person engagement). This may at times involve communicating difficult and emotive messages such as messages around suicide prevention for example.
- Ensure all communication and engagement activities are accessible to all staff and enhance the employee experience.
- Using analytical judgement, develop appropriate and realistic measures to evaluate all engagement activities and interventions for all stages of the project lifecycle.
- Responsible for providing engagement support to the Head of Health & Wellbeing to lead the work of the directorate in transforming the organisation’s culture through the commissioning, development, evaluation/assurance and provision of wellbeing programmes and interventions that promotes a values-driven Trust with accountable and empowered managers and staff.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of proactive and preventative health and wellbeing measures, ensuring that managers are fully advised on these issues.
- Encourage and support the identification and practical implementation of ideas for service improvements from the team.
- Quality assure the support, advice and guidance provided by any service provider including the EAP/Mental Health Service Provider(s) and assist in supporting the continuous development of staff to deliver high quality services in employee wellbeing.
