Head of Senior School Library
Robert Gordon’s College is seeking an outstanding, enthusiastic and experienced librarian to be our Head of Senior School Library from August 2024, or as soon thereafter as possible. This is a full-time permanent position, working on a term-time basis. The successful candidate will be a highly committed team player with a love of literature and learning, and a passion to support pupils with their independent learning. They will possess the drive and energy to lead and further enhance the large, attractive library which lies at the heart of this forward thinking school. In particular, the chosen candidate will be aware of the latest research in library management as well as developments in the area of e-books. This role will involve working closely with the school’s Senior Leadership Team to take forward future developments.

The Head of Senior School Library will be responsible for the day to day operation and management of the Library & Archives Team comprising two part-time staff in our busy Senior School of over 1060 pupils. Applicants must be willing to lead by example and play a full part in the College’s pastoral care and extracurricular programme.

Under the guidance of the Head of Senior School, to be responsible for the day-to-day running of the library including:
● Management of the Senior School Library including:
● Management and maintenance of the Library Management System (Softlink Oliver).
● Promotion of literacy and reader development within the school.
● Assist with pupil and staff enquiries and IT within the library.
● Supervision and assistance of pupils during the school day and also before and after school and at break and lunchtime.
● Selection and management of suitable resources for the staff library and careers library and assisting pupils and staff in the use of these resources.
● Close liaison with the Junior School Librarian.
