About the Company:

We are a leading importer and distributor of high-quality fresh and frozen vegetables and fruits, supplying retail, food service, and wholesale markets across the UK and Europe. Our primary focus is the supply of a range of premium organic and conventional products from various mainly African origins. We pride ourselves on meeting diverse customer needs and fostering long-term partnerships.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Sales Manager to lead and expand our sales operations. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of the UK retail, food service, and wholesale markets, with additional experience in the Asian wholesale market or frozen products being a strong advantage. Fluency in foreign languages would be a plus.

Location:

The successful candidate can be based across England. There would be a requirement to come to the companies offices from time to time (in Spalding) and to visit key customers and markets as needed from time to time.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Sales Strategy Development:
  • Develop and implement effective sales strategies to drive revenue growth across retail, food service, and wholesale sectors.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the UK and European markets.
  1. Customer Relationship Management:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, including retailers, wholesalers, and food service providers.
  • Actively seek and maintain relationships with new customers, particularly in niche markets such as organic products and Asian vegetables.
  1. Market Analysis and Business Development:
  • Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitor activities to identify growth opportunities.
  • Expand the company’s presence in both traditional and emerging markets.
  1. Sales Performance Management:
  • Set and achieve sales targets and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Monitor and report on sales performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions.
  1. Management of Suppliers and Supply Chain
  • Maintain and develop relationships with core suppliers within our key origins.
  • Plan and establish clear programs to ensure consistency of supply
  • Engage in rate negotiations with suppliers to ensure we are competitive
  • Plan capacity for the movement of our goods with our selected logistics partners, and coordinate with our logistics partners to ensure we maintain an efficient supply chain


  1. Team Collaboration:
  • Work closely with supply chain, logistics, finance and marketing teams to ensure efficient operations and customer satisfaction.

Key Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Sales Manager or similar role in the fresh and frozen food import and distribution industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of the UK retail, food service, and wholesale markets.
  • Demonstrated success in developing sales strategies and achieving sales targets.
  • Experience working with Asian vegetable products and avocados is highly desirable.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze data, spot trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM software.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as needed within the UK and Europe.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations.
  • Familiarity with logistics and supply chain operations.
  • Multilingual abilities, particularly European or Asian languages, will be a bonus.
