Currently, Warwickshire transports over 10,000 children, young people and adults to their education or day care provisions (SEND and Mainstream). This is spread over more than 1000 contracts (Bus and Taxi). Each Driver and Passenger Assistant must attend mandatory Safeguarding training on a 3-yearly cycle.

Warwickshire Transport Delivery Services are keen to recruit an enthusiastic and passionate professional to lead on the safeguarding response for Home to School and Adult Social Care Transport. The post holder will be responsible for the delivery, reviewing and updating of the safeguarding programme which is mandatory for all Drivers and Passenger Assistants under contract for Home to School and Adult Social Care Transport. The successful candidate may be delivering this training up to 4 days per week.

The post holder will also take a lead on the overall safeguarding approach used within Transport Delivery Services, including acting as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to any concerns that are reported by parent/carers, schools, transport staff and other professionals.

Key Requirements

  • Significant experience of delivering a training programme
  • Experience of developing training materials and delivering training to a range of different stakeholders
  • Experience of working alongside safeguarding agencies (LADO, C&F front door, DSLs) with a proven track record of following protocol.
  • Knowledge of transport operational issues and understanding of the duties upon local authorities regarding Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Adult Social Care and Equality and Diversity?
