Location: Remote / hybrid. This role could be fully remote or could combine home working with office-based work in Shoreditch, London, depending on the candidate's location.

Award-winning opera company and homelessness charity Streetwise Opera is recruiting a maternity cover for our Head of Fundraising.

We are looking for an individual who shares our passion for social impact and outstanding performance and has the capacity to lead a small Fundraising team which plays a central role in the ongoing development and success of our organisation.

The Head of Fundraising (Maternity Cover) leads Streetwise Opera's fundraising function, raising funds that make a real difference to the lives of people who have experienced homelessness. They are a member of Streetwise Opera's Senior Management Team, lead the Fundraising department and work closely with the Chief Executive to build, develop and maintain relationships with existing and new funders in order to meet income targets. You will also line manage the Trusts & Foundations Managers (job-share) and the Individual Giving & Events Officer.

While you do not currently have to be leading a team or have extensive management experience, what is important is that you have the leadership approach; communication skills; and track record in securing major grants in either the performing arts, wider cultural not-for-profit or homelessness sector to lead our Fundraising function.

We envisage this to be a 4-5 day per week employed role but would be happy to discuss the possibility of fewer days and/or hear from freelance fundraisers who would be interested in taking on the role on a freelance basis.

Line manages the Trusts & Foundations Managers (job-share) and the Individual Giving & Events Officer.

Responsibilities

Develop, implement and evaluate the fundraising and business development strategy, in collaboration with the Fundraising teamIn dialogue with the Chief Executive, set annual fundraising targetsBuild and deliver the annual pipeline with the Fundraising teamTake the lead on grant giving from major trust and foundations, building applications with support from the Trusts & Foundations Managers, and reporting to and maintaining relationships with major donorsSupport the Chief Executive in Streetwise's relationship with Arts Council England, including creating applications, and take the lead on quarterly reporting for our National Portfolio Organisation agreementSupport the Chief Executive and Individual Giving & Events Officer in building and maintaining relationships with individual donors and corporate clients As part of the above, support the Individual Giving & Events Officer in creating distinctive and engaging fundraising events and programmes with the Chief Executive, Artistic Director and performersLead on and support the Fundraising team in creating engaging external communications for all donors and supporters, including contributing to organisational wide and performance project communications from a Fundraising perspectiveTaking the lead on developing a case for support and theory of change models for our projects and core activity Knowledge, skills and experienceA track record in securing and maintaining significant amounts of income from major trusts and foundations including the outstanding communication skills required to create compelling proposals and reports The ability to lead and create Fundraising strategies and plans The ability to lead on and create impact models and theories of change to build our case for support The capacity to support colleagues in raising income from individuals and corporate supporters, including contributing innovative and creative ideas to engage with these supporters Experience of building project budgets and the capacity to support colleagues in creating financial reporting models The capacity to support and contribute to organisational strategy; An understanding of the performing arts and how they deliver direct social impact An understanding of the issues around those who have experienced homelessness, and the ability to empathise and engage with Streetwise Opera performers We welcome and encourage applications from candidates who are under-represented in the creative industries.
