Imaginate is Scotland's national charity that presents, develops and celebrates inspiring theatre and dance performances for children and young people. The organisation works year-round with schools and community groups on projects such as their flagship Creative Encounters project, they produce the Edinburgh International Children's Festival: an annual celebration of world-class theatre and dance performances for young audiences, and provide development opportunities, projects and international exchange for artists and freelancers in the young audiences sector.

The Trainee Creative Facilitator will work on Creative Encounters, a partnership project with North Edinburgh Arts in which children commission artists to make new theatre and/or dance performances for the North Edinburgh Community Festival and the Children's Festival Family Encounters Day. The participating children lead on the selection process (reading applications, shortlisting, interviewing and then choosing artists) and inform and shape the creation of the performances. It is an exciting time to join this project as it heads into its third year as the trainee will be able to work with children, artists and Imaginate staff to support the creation of three new theatre/dance commissions.
