ReConnect Trainee Workshop Leader

The SCO's Creative Learning Team are recruiting one Trainee Workshop Leader to take part in a 9-month traineeship as part of our ReConnect programme.


This paid and bespoke traineeship is ideal for early-career musicians who want to develop and deepen their knowledge and skills in delivering music workshops to those living with dementia.

You will be supported throughout by Dr Jane Bentley – the Lead Artist for the ReConnect programme – and will be part of a collaborative, experienced and supportive team in the SCO's Creative Learning department, working closely with the Creative Learning Producers, Craigmillar Residency Project Manager, and the Director of Creative Learning.


The SCO ReConnect programme provides a series of creative music workshops for people with dementia at which patients are supported to sing, play instruments, improvise and listen.

The ReConnect team consists of a specialist music workshop leader, a trainee workshop leader, and two SCO musicians.


Successful applicants will be offered a place on the programme for 9 months, during which you will support Dr Jane Bentley (lead artist for ReConnect) in delivering the ReConnect programme at Royal Edinburgh Hospital and Caring in Craigmillar, a day care centre in Craigmillar.

As the year progresses, you will take on more responsibilities within workshops in both locations, as appropriate.
