Perth and Kinross Council is seeking dedicated individuals to enhance our team across various childcare settings.

This role presents an excellent opportunity for those looking to enter the childcare profession, gaining valuable experience while being supported in obtaining a childcare qualification.

As a Play Support Assistant, you will contribute to delivering high-quality play experiences within our childcare programs. Your responsibilities will include providing exceptional care and facilitating a diverse range of engaging and creative activities, such as arts and crafts, storytelling, outdoor play, and physical activities tailored to the interests and needs of children aged 3 to 14 years.

You will collaborate with a team to foster children's learning and development in a safe and inclusive environment during out-of-school hours.

Flexible working arrangements are available, allowing you to choose your hours and preferred locations.

Positions may be available during term time and school holidays.

While no formal qualifications are required to apply, you will be encouraged and supported to pursue one of the following qualifications:

  • NC Early Education and Childcare
  • SVQ Level 2 or 3 in Social Services (Children & Young People)
  • HNC Early Education and Childcare
  • SVQ Level 3 Playwork

You will need to register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) for Day Care of Children within three months of starting your role and maintain your annual membership.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for individuals who possess a genuine enthusiasm and commitment to working with children in a professional early learning or childcare environment.

You should have skills to share with children, such as sports, drama, arts and crafts, music, storytelling, and general play.

This child-centered role requires sensitivity, patience, and compassion, along with a welcoming demeanor to create a sense of trust and safety for children and their families. A sincere interest in child development and well-being is essential, with key qualities including kindness, respectfulness, and confidentiality.
