Job Summary

The Moray Council is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Pupil Support Worker to join our team. As a Pupil Support Worker, you will work directly with primary and secondary school-aged children and young people who display social, emotional, behavioural, and communication needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work directly with children and young people and colleagues to model and promote inclusive practice and autism-friendly learning environments, according to the principles of nurture, restorative practices, and solution-oriented work, statutory requirements, and school priorities.
  • Support the planning required to work with colleagues to deliver, evidence, and evaluate individual and small group work programmes to meet identified priorities for children and young people, including alternative curricular activities that reduce social anxiety and stress.
  • Support and facilitate the delivery of wellbeing and wider achievement awards for children and young people.
  • Support the development and delivery of services within the school.
  • Health and Safety duties linked to pupils.

Requirements

  • Experience of work with children and young people who display social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
  • Experience of working with children and young people with social and communication needs.
  • Experience of working within a young person's environment.
  • A minimum of 4 national 5s, or 4 Standard Grades at level 2 or above. Must include English and Maths.
  • Self-confident and self-motivated.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Ability to plan and facilitate activities.
  • Effective communication skills, oral and written.
  • Effective organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team contributing to service development.
  • Display ability and commitment to training and subsequent staff development as required.
