Job Role Overview
Pupil Support Assistants play a vital role in supporting children and young people with additional support needs in educational settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Work as part of a team to provide support to children and young people with a range of needs, including social, emotional, learning, communication, physical, and personal care needs.
- Support positive behaviour management programmes and individual support plans to promote positive outcomes for children and young people.
- Work in a variety of settings, including nursery or school-based settings, and community-based activities such as horse riding or outdoor learning.
- Support lunchtimes and playtimes as part of the school team.
Requirements
- A genuine interest in the development of children and their wellbeing.
- Kindness, empathy, patience, and an ability to engage with children and young people.
- Confidentiality in relation to children, young people, and their families.
- Experience (paid/voluntary) of supporting children and young people with additional support needs.
