Bipolar UK is seeking to recruit a Senior Peer Support Officer to work part-time as part of a new project inclusive of reaching under-represented members of our community.

We are looking for an experienced applicant who is familiar with peer and lived experience models of support to engage members of our community in London to access support and widen our reach.

The role will include:

working with our existing services

project managing the development of new grant-funded services (including targeted provision of new peer support groups) for racialised and minoritised communities in London

managing existing volunteers and supporting the recruitment of new volunteers

regularly using Salesforce for both contact management and reporting

developing links with other mental health services or appropriate agencies

Though Bipolar UK does not offer Crisis Support, the successful applicant may have to direct members of our community experiencing a crisis to relevant services and will also be responsible for recognising and reporting Safeguarding incidents within the bounds of Bipolar UK's Safeguarding Policies.

This role will require work across London both online (via Teams and Zoom) and in-person.

The position requires good personal interaction skills and the ability to empathise with service users and volunteers while remaining calm and considered in sometimes difficult situations. This is a varied and hands on role and we are looking for someone with good communication abilities (verbal and written) along with good organisational skills. Bipolar UK will offer the successful applicant regular support and engagement with the team, as well as clinical supervision throughout their service with the charity.
