About the Role

Hestia Housing Support is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Young Adults Peer Support Specialist to join our Mental Health Integrated Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) Team. As a valued member of our team, you will play a crucial role in providing peer support to young adults navigating the transition from Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) to adult services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Peer Support Services: Provide one-to-one and group peer support sessions to young adults, drawing from your lived experience to inform and empower them.
  • Transition Planning: Collaborate with the Mental Health and Complex Needs Service to develop and implement transition plans, promoting personal responsibility and independence.
  • Advocacy: Advocate on behalf of young adults, ensuring their voices are heard and their interests are represented when accessing community and statutory services.
  • Rapport Building: Utilize your lived experience to build rapport with young adults, fostering trust and understanding.
  • Recovery Goals: Help individuals identify and set achievable recovery goals, supporting them in creating a Dialog+ assessment.
  • Community Access: Facilitate access to community groups and networks, enabling young adults to participate in community activities.
Requirements
  • Lived Experience: Possess lived experience of mental health problems and experience of using secondary care services.
  • Autonomy and Teamwork: Demonstrate ability to work autonomously and in a team or group environment.
  • Self-Management Tools: Have knowledge of using a range of self-management or recovery tools and techniques.
  • Mental Health Recovery: Possess understanding and practical knowledge of mental health recovery.
