Europe's top cancer charity, Cancer Research UK, has combined with the University of Cambridge to fund the world class Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute, situated on the Addenbrooke's Biomedical Campus in Cambridge.

As part of the University of Cambridge School of Clinical Medicine, the Institute's research ranges from basic cancer biology through translational cancer research to clinical application. The Institute currently houses over 400 researchers and support staff with 22 research groups and associated core facilities in a state-of-the-art research facility.

The Flow and Mass Cytometry core facility is seeking an experienced Senior Scientific Associate to lead the operational activities of our Imaging Mass Cytometry Super Hub. The role holder will oversee the daily running of the IMC core lab and will interact with CRUK-CI research scientists, students and visiting scientist who regularly use the Facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the Imaging Mass Cytometry (IMC) core lab.
  • Lead the Hub team working with scientists internal and external to the CRUK Cambridge Institute Perform troubleshooting and routine maintenance of IMC instruments.
  • Assist in running samples and ensure optimal performance of the equipment.
  • Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers for equipment and service needs.
  • Assist with experiment design and data analysis for spatial biology projects.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience in a reputable molecular biology laboratory.
  • Expertise in staining techniques on tissue sections such as image mass cytometry (IMC), immunohistochemistry (IHC), or immunofluorescence (IF).
  • Hands-on experience with the CyTOF mass cytometry/IMC platform is highly desirable.
  • Experience working with human tissue is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in other molecular biology techniques is beneficial.
  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in a relevant discipline.
