The Senior Research Associate is responsible for roles within the Cambridge Antibody Development Platforms (ADP) team, which is part of a global group discovering antibodies to a wide variety of targets that have commercial priority for use within Abcam's catalogue of antibodies. The team also offers its antibody discovery expertise to external customers (including leaders from biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry). We provide high quality, high-performance antibodies utilising a number of approaches, including RabMAb technology (our patented antibody technology) and Single B-cell cloning for the development of high-quality monoclonal antibodies for our customers.

This position reports to the ADP Scientist and is part of the Antibody Development Platforms (ADP) team located in Cambridge, UK and will be on-site. At Abcam, our vision is to be the most influential life sciences company for researchers worldwide.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Support aspects of the antibody generation process for monoclonal antibody projects using techniques such as: Mammalian Cell Culture, FACS, Molecular Biology and ELISA.
  • Use liquid handling automation to support high throughput sampling and assays.
  • Contribute to and implement process improvements and optimization on current processes.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • A degree in a life sciences-related subject
  • Experience working in a scientific setting either within an academic lab or in industry.
  • Experience in antibody discovery processes with experience in process involved in Hybridoma or single B-cell Cloning.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Other plate based assay formats such as HTRF or Octet.
  • Other antibody discovery processes such as Phage display, NGS or in silico development.
