Grants and Trusts Manager

Colchester, Essex, United Kingdom Essex Wildlife Trust Full time

We are looking for an experienced Grants and Trusts Manager to lead on expanding income from a sustainable portfolio of trusts and foundations. The post holder will be responsible for developing and executing the strategy to significantly increase our restricted and unrestricted income, aiming to surpass £900,000 this year. This role involves managing a diverse portfolio of high-value trusts, foundations, and grant-makers, including the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Landfill Community Funds, and other major grant schemes, charitable trusts, and foundations.

We are looking for a skilled bid writer with extensive project management experience to transform our core and project work into compelling fundraising propositions. The ideal candidate will be proactive, with a proven track record in high-value fundraising from trusts and foundations or a similar field. The Grants & Trusts Manager will cultivate and maintain key relationships with funders capable of contributing five, six, and seven-figure sums. Additionally, this role includes developing and strategically managing a pipeline of smaller grant applications, with oversight of the Grants & Trusts Officer.

The key tasks for this role include working closely with the Head of Fundraising to develop a plan for multi-year income growth from grant funding, aligned with the Trust's strategic objectives and income targets. The role requires developing the strategic direction for grants and trusts funding, ensuring a pipeline of high-value bids and a sustainable income stream. You will identify, engage, cultivate, and manage a portfolio of high-value trust and foundation supporters, providing effective relationship management alongside the Head of Fundraising.

Securing both restricted and unrestricted income for Essex Wildlife Trust involves initiating, managing, and developing a comprehensive programme of applications to a wide range of funding sources. You will collaborate with colleagues across the Trust to identify programmes, projects, and areas of work that align with the criteria of various funders. Project management of large bids, such as those for the National Lottery Heritage Fund, is also a key responsibility, ensuring the strongest possible application is submitted.

The successful candidate will line manage the Grants & Trusts Officer, supporting their efforts to develop a pipeline of funding from local and smaller trusts and foundations, and ensure accurate and up-to-date records are maintained using the CRM system and appropriate MS Office programmes.

For further details including a full job description, please refer to the 'Role Information Pack'. The position is a permanent role with a starting salary of £36,000 per annum. The hours of work are full-time, Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm (37.5 hours per week). The closing date for receipt of applications is Tuesday 27 August 2024 at 9:00am.

Essex Wildlife Trust prides itself on being a flexible working employer including flexible home-working arrangements. The successful applicant will be subject to a Basic DBS Check.

Essex Wildlife Trust is committed to an inclusive and diverse workplace where everyone is welcome. As a conservation charity, we know how important diversity is, both in our natural world and amongst the people we employ. We want everyone to feel valued and empowered to contribute to our vision of "A county rich in wildlife with people connected to nature".

As a Disability Confident employer, we are committed to offering an interview to anyone with a disability that meets all the essential criteria for the post. Please let us know if you require any adjustments to make our recruitment process more accessible.
