Avidity Science are looking for a new HR Assistant to join our small, busy team. Reporting to our Head of HR EMEA, you will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operation of the HR function within our progressive, Life and Biomedical Sciences company. Our HR team’s remit covers all our employees based across the EMEA region, including UK, France and Germany; there will also be opportunities to work on global HR initiatives.


We are looking for someone with demonstrable HR administration experience within a small or medium sized company, who is flexible in their approach and can thrive in a dynamic environment. This could represent a fantastic opportunity to take responsibility for providing dedicated HR support in a busy, office, engineering and manufacturing environment, with global employment exposure.


This role would be based at our offices in Long Crendon (HP18 9BA) with hybrid working (typically three days in the office).


About the role

Some of the things you will be doing if you join us:

  • Serve as a trusted resource to employees by supporting all internal and external HR-related inquiries or requests, providing prompt, accurate, and thorough responses, and escalating to the Head of HR as needed.
  • Maintain hard-copy and electronic employee records and databases.
  • Assist in managing employee rewards and benefits.
  • Assist with the recruitment process including advertising positions, candidate screening, coordinating recruiters, scheduling interviews, issuing employment offer documents, and attending career events.
  • Support talent development processes, including arranging training for employees.
  • Aid managers in handling grievances, disciplinaries, and dismissals in a supportive manner.
  • Support the onboarding process for new hires, including compliance checks and managing the HR induction process.
  • Assist in the creation and continuous improvement of HR policies and procedures.
  • Support employee engagement and social/wellbeing initiatives and events.
  • Assist with payroll preparation.
  • Support off-boarding procedures, including conducting exit interviews.
  • Support regular and one-off business reporting requirements for the Head of HR Manager and other senior stakeholders.
  • Contribute to company communications, including newsletters and intranet content.
  • Support coordination of company vehicle fleet.
  • Support other regional and global HR projects and initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


We’re keen to bring new people and ideas into the team; we don’t have a list of mandatory qualifications or skills to be considered for the role. However, some or all of the following could be expected of you:

  • Experience in all aspects of the employee lifecycle, with strong experience working directly with employees and stakeholders.
  • A collaborative ethic, self-motivation, and a positive can-do attitude.
  • CIPD qualification and/or degree-level education is an advantage but not essential.
  • Ability to handle matters assertively and confidentially at all levels.
  • A flexible, methodical, and organised approach to work.
  • Strong IT skills and adaptability to multiple systems.
  • Ability to work under time pressure and independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in processing payroll.
  • Proficiency in French and/or German, and knowledge of employment law in these regions, is a distinct advantage.
