Public Rights of Way Officer

The main duties and responsibilities of the Public Rights of Way Officer are:
Knowledge about the legal aspects of public rights of way (PRoW)
Responsible for assessing the condition of the Public Rights of Way network to ensure it is maintained to a standard acceptable to the Highway Authority, liaising with landowners or occupiers to ensure they carry out their legal responsibilities.
Responsible for raising defects using data capture devices and creating job packs in line with CDM Regs to enable the delivery teams to plan and prioritise work accordingly
Develop, maintain and update records and management systems
Act as expert witness representing the Council at Public Inquiries
Deal with general enquiries and provide technical and professional advice in respect of green space and rights of way issues
Knowledge of how to operate a GIS based system
