Bristol, Bristol, United Kingdom WE Care Home Improvements Full time

Please note :
closing date is 19/08/2023

About Us

We are the largest independent home improvement agency in the UK, with 34 years of experience working in the West of England.

We are also not for profit - any money generated goes back into the organisation to support vulnerable people who cannot afford to pay.

We provide home improvement services and products to increase independence, safety, comfort, and mobility in the home.

We support everyone aged over 60, as well as people of all ages who have a disability or are coming out of hospital.

We provide home improvement, adaptations and repairs services in the Bristol and Bath and North East Somerset areas. We also provide a minor adaptations service in Gloucestershire.

Any profit we make goes towards helping vulnerable people pay for home improvements that they couldn't afford themselves.

Our vision is that all homes enable safety and wellbeing. We deliver this mission by being a values-based organisation. We work in a collaborative way valuing all our colleague's individual skills, experience and knowledge. Our colleagues know what a difference their work makes to the lives of local people. We live and breathe our organisational values, which guide our work from day to day.

These are:

  • We are experts
  • We are resourceful
  • We are caring
  • We act with integrity

About the role
We are commissioned by Bristol City Council and BANES Local Authority to deliver a Home Improvement Agency service to older, disabled, vulnerable, self
- funding and low
- income people in Bristol and B&NES. To deliver upon the quality and volume requirements in this contract we are looking to appoint a Project Manager
  • Client, ideally someone who has experience in working with older and vulnerable people, to support the smooth running of our Project Management services.
We only work on individual, (primarily homeowners) domestic residential projects.

You will provide high-quality advice on housing and independent living to older, disabled and low-income people, and those involved in their care across Bristol.

We need someone who can support clients to carry out repairs or adaptions to their home, facilitate urgent work to enable discharge from hospital and provide advice and support on moving to suitable alternative accommodation.

You will also advise on funding options.

You will support and be supported by our technical project managers who diagnose defects, design and schedule works, and project manage the works on site.

Good judgement, a can-do approach, and an empathetic manner with vulnerable clients is as important as the organisational, numerical and IT skills that you will bring.

You will receive support, coaching and training to help you succeed as a member of the WECHI team and you will coach and support others to help them enjoy their roles and make WECHI successful.

Key Functions

  • Manage an active caseload of clients with diverse needs, ensuring a high level of customer service.
  • Work closely with clients to enable them to make the housing choices/decisions that are right for them. Discuss options, which may include smaller/larger repairs and adaptations or moving to more suitable accommodation.
  • Support clients throughout any building works ensuring they are fully aware of the details of the work and/or their families and carers are kept fully informed about progress.
  • Work closely with technical project managers, the project management team and the wider organisation to optimise the service provided to client.
  • Advise on care and support services available from statutory and voluntary agencies, making referrals as needed.
  • Establish and maintain links with other appropriate statutory, charitable and voluntary agencies particularly in the housing, health and care sectors.
  • Ensure all client records are up to date.
  • Fully utilise available information management systems such as Dynamics, SharePoint, Charity Log and Xero, and identify and access appropriate databases and other sources of information.
  • Support with reporting requirements, including provision of casestudies, as needed.

Accountabilities

Clients, professionals and colleagues:

  • By providing an efficient and effective service to clients, professionals and colleagues.

Organisational:

  • By holding our purpose, "_support older/disabled/vulnerable people to remain living comfortably and independently in their own homes for as long as they choose_", at the heart of everything you do.
  • By showing a keenness to learn about how we work as an organisation and commit to our values.

How we work:

  • We don't have managers as we are accountable to our purpose and our team.
  • We all have the right to make decisions as long as we take advice from anyone who is impacted by the decision.
  • We strive to make organisation information available to all.
  • We talk to one another as an adult to adult, are open, honest and respectful.
  • We celebrate success, we don't fe
