Are you ready to accelerate AstraZeneca’s biologics discovery activities by providing innovative tech, data, and AI solutions? We are seeking a leader to join R&D IT to build and own the Biologics Discovery Platform. This is a once in a career opportunity to own the full lifecycle of a platform – design, build, run, utilisation - in an exciting and rapid-evolving area of science.
Accountabilities:
As the Biologics Discovery Platform Lead, you will have overall IT accountability for the platform. You will define and implement a technology strategy that anticipates and meets the current and future needs of AstraZeneca’s scientific community. You will form productive relationships with AstraZeneca senior scientific leaders and science communities to develop an aligned understanding of their use cases and needs. You will lead, build and develop a distributed team of tech, data, and AI specialists. You will also effectively control and coordinate activities across this platform, other R&D teams, and multiple vendors.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- An expert with over 10 years’ experience in applying technology, data, and AI in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Extensive knowledge of biologics and biologics drug discovery processes.
- A current people leader with line management responsibility for a large, distributed and diverse team.
- Able to communicate, influence and inspire stakeholders up to board level around a vision for tech, data, and AI in biologics discovery.
- Experience in working in a complex global organisation – leading a distributed team and proactively managing an extensive network of global customers.
- Experience of building, leading, managing and motivating a large team of technical experts across multiple locations.
- Definition and implementation of IT delivery and service operating models – with a focus on continuous and measurable improvement of delivery practices and user experience.
- Budget (finance and resource) ownership for programmes of more than $5m per annum.
