**Scientist - Discovery Screening - Cambridge**

This job role is with an award-winning biotech company in Cambridge that are looking to grow rapidly. They have developed a unique proprietary cellular reprogramming technology that has the potential to be revolutionary in Stem Cell Biology, and the enablingof a new generation of cell therapies.

**Discovery Screening Scientist**

Looking for Scientists with experience in molecular biology, mammalian tissue culture and cellular engineering to join their Discovery Screening Team.

You will develop, optimise, and perform genetic screening protocols for the reprogramming of iPSCs to specific cell types, assist in characterisation of these cells at phenotypic, functional and molecular levels, and validate putative screen targets.

**Your key responsibilities will include**:

- To be accountable and responsible for establishing and the delivery of transcription factor or other genetic screens in IPSCs for cell type specific reprogramming, including validation of putative screen hits.
- To work with collaborators within the company and beyond to develop and optimise protocols for the generation of IPSC reprogrammed cell types, and assist to characterise these cells at phenotypic, functional and molecular levels.
- Engage and influence external collaborators (and suppliers). Be involved in initiating, developing and driving collaborations which are critical to the achievement of the team and company Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).
- Influence and impact across the wider scientific and manufacturing bit.bio community as pertains to gene engineering and cell line development and will sit on several key committees.
- Oversee development and training activities; coach individuals to perform their roles effectively. Help to manage the performance of individuals who are failing to meet agreed standards.
- Actively lead in developing and maintaining the core cultural aspects of the company.
- Present finding at regular internal and external meetings. Deputise for the Team Lead as required.

**With essential experience in...**
- Strong experience of core Cell and Molecular Biology techniques
- Extensive experience with mammalian cell culture and flow cytometry
- Experience in handling iPSC and protocols for human IPS cell differentiation assays
- Proven ability to communicate research/project outputs, through written or oral communication.
- Excellent team working and networking skills, proven ability to influence on Scientific and non-scientific matters.
- Ability to manage and prioritise own workload

- Experience of high-throughput genomics
- Experience in high-throughput genetic screening approaches using mammalian cell lines
- Experience in constructing large libraries for screening (e.g CRISPR, transgene, RNAi etc) - including QC, analysis and experimental requirements
- Line management experience and a track record of staff development
