Thispost is not a recognised UK training post.Nevertheless, MYDoc doctors will have a named supervisor and be supportedin undertaking scheduled educational opportunities to consolidate and developalongside their experiential learning, with certificated outcomes orcredentialing to support career progression through other routes.
An Introduction to theSpecialty from Dr Alastair Rose, Head of Clinical Service for Anaesthetics,Critical Care and Pain Services.
Our anaesthetic team includes 60 Consultants, 15 SpecialityDoctors and 2 advanced critical care practitioners with 18 Specialty Trainees,22 Core trainees and 2 Foundation Doctors. The clinical team is supported by adedicated team of administrative staff, has office and networked computerfacilities, and has Association of Anaesthetists recommended rest facilities.
Main duties of the job
The mainduties of the post will include:
Provisionof anaesthetic care, both acute and electively, with responsibility for themanagement of patients with acute and chronic conditions including complexcases. Area of work will depend onindividuals skill set and levels of competency.
On-callfor obstetric anaesthesia, intensive care, or at 2nd on-call leveldepending on competency.
Pre-operativeassessment
Involvementin specialty and cross-specialty multi-disciplinary teams and meetings
Involvementin relevant administration duties
Teachingand supervision of junior medical staff and other clinicians as appropriate
Activeinvolvement in audit and clinical governance including service improvementactivities

Job description
Job responsibilities
This postis offered initially on a full time 10 Programmed Activity basis (9 DCC PAsand 1 SPA PAs) although more PAs may be available, and less than full timeapplications may be considered.
Dutieswill be based initially on our Wakefield (Pinderfields) and Dewsbury sitesalthough all our medical staff are involved in delivering care to patients onall 3 sites. There may be an opportunity in the future to cover our Pontefractsite to provide support for the increasingthroughput of our Elective Orthopaedic service on that site. From a clinicalperspective, these posts will participate in resident rotas which supportprovision of 24-hour Anaesthetic cover (including nights & long days).

The department is keen to supportspecialty doctors who wish to obtain their Certificate of Eligibility forSpecialist Registration (CESR) including facilitating rotation to nearbytertiary centres for specialty experience, if required.
