Specialty Doctor in Microbiology Specialist

About the Role
The Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialty Doctor in Microbiology to join our team. As a key member of our clinical microbiology service, you will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance to clinical colleagues on microbiological and virological matters.
Main Responsibilities
- Authorise and liaise laboratory results to ensure accurate and timely diagnosis and treatment of patients.
- Provide clinical microbiology and virology advice to clinical colleagues, including infection control and antimicrobial stewardship.
- Communicate effectively with laboratory, infection control, antimicrobial pharmacy, occupational health colleagues, and external partners to ensure seamless care delivery.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings to discuss complex cases and develop treatment plans.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to improve patient outcomes and reduce healthcare-associated infections.
Requirements
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
- Full GMC Registration with a Licence to Practice.
- At least four years' full-time postgraduate training in a relevant specialty, with two years' experience in clinical microbiology.
- Awareness of laboratory skills related to Microbiology, Virology, and Mycology.
