About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialty Doctor in Microbiology to join our team at The Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust. As a key member of our clinical microbiology service, you will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance to clinical colleagues on microbiology and virology-related matters.

Main Responsibilities

  • Authorise and liaise laboratory results to ensure accurate and timely diagnosis and treatment of patients.
  • Provide clinical microbiology and virology advice to clinical colleagues, including infection control and antimicrobial stewardship.
  • Communicate effectively with laboratory, infection control, antimicrobial pharmacy, and occupational health colleagues to ensure seamless care delivery.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings to discuss patient care and develop strategies for improving patient outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with external partners, including primary care, regional infection, and public health colleagues, to ensure effective communication and coordination of care.

Requirements

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Full GMC Registration with a Licence to Practice.
  • At least four years' full-time postgraduate training in a relevant specialty, with experience in laboratory skills related to Microbiology, Virology, and Mycology.
  • Ability to demonstrate laboratory skills related to Microbiology, Virology, and Mycology.
