We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialty Doctor in Microbiology to join our team at Mid Yorkshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. As a key member of our clinical microbiology service, you will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance to clinical colleagues on microbiological and virological matters.
Key Responsibilities- Authorise and liaise laboratory results to ensure accurate and timely diagnosis and treatment of patients.
- Provide clinical microbiology and virology advice to clinical colleagues to inform patient care and treatment decisions.
- Communicate effectively with laboratory, infection control, antimicrobial pharmacy, occupational health colleagues, and external partners to ensure seamless care delivery.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings to discuss patient care and treatment plans in areas such as ICU, burns, infective endocarditis, haematology, orthopaedics, and OPAT services.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and implement service improvement initiatives and contribute to audit and clinical governance activities.
We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications and experience:
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
- At least four years' full-time postgraduate training (or equivalent) in a relevant specialty, with at least two years' experience in microbiology.
- Awareness of laboratory skills related to microbiology, virology, and mycology.
Desirable qualifications and experience include:
- FRCPath part 1 and 2.
- MRCP.
- Clinical research and development experience.
