About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Specialty Doctor in Microbiology to join our team at The Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust. As a key member of our clinical microbiology service, you will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance to clinical colleagues on microbiological and virological matters.
Main Duties
- Authorise and liaise laboratory results
- Provide clinical microbiology and virology advice to clinical colleagues
- Communicate effectively as part of good teamwork
- Liaise with laboratory, infection control, antimicrobial pharmacy, occupational health colleagues in our trust as well as external primary care, regional infection and public health colleagues
- Regular MDT participation in areas such as ICU, burns, infective endocarditis, haematology, orthopaedics and OPAT services
- Work on our Wakefield Pinderfields hospital site during weekday working hours
Person Specification
Essential
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Full GMC Registration with a Licence to Practice
Desirable
- FRCPath part 1
- FRCPath part 1 and 2
- MRCP
Experience
- Applicants shall have completed at least four years' full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis), at least two of which will be in a relevant specialty
- Aware of laboratory skills related to Microbiology, Virology and Mycology
