We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialty Doctor in Microbiology to join our team at Mid Yorkshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. As a key member of our clinical microbiology service, you will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance to clinical colleagues, as well as contributing to the provision of a high-quality clinical microbiology service.
Key Responsibilities- Authorise and liaise laboratory results to ensure accurate and timely diagnosis and treatment of patients.
- Provide clinical microbiology and virology advice to clinical colleagues to inform patient care and treatment decisions.
- Communicate effectively with laboratory, infection control, antimicrobial pharmacy, and occupational health colleagues to ensure seamless collaboration and coordination of care.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings to discuss patient care and treatment plans, particularly in areas such as ICU, burns, infective endocarditis, haematology, orthopaedics, and OPAT services.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and implement service improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of clinical governance policies and procedures.
We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications and experience:
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
- At least four years' full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) in a relevant specialty.
- Awareness of laboratory skills related to Microbiology, Virology, and Mycology.
Desirable qualifications and experience include:
- FRCPath part 1 and 2.
- MRCP.
- Experience of clinical specialties where there is a significant component of infection, including infectious diseases, ICU, and haematology.
- Clinical research and development experience.
