Job summary

We are looking for a permanent Highly SpecialistDysphagia Speech & Language Therapist tojoin our Community Childrens Therapy Team in West Essex, covering Uttlesford, Harlow and Epping Forest.

You willjoin our award winning Essex Child and Family Wellbeing Service, where we are trail blazing a new integrated partnership model with Barnardos;a model that drives efficiencies so we can put more people in our services, spending time with children and families to improve health outcomes in the local community.

Working ina diverse multidisciplinary team with other dedicated staff, you willbenefit from the support of friendly and inclusive colleagues, with access to regular supervision and team meetings.

Main duties of the job

As the Dysphagia Lead for our Childrens Speech and Language Therapy Service, you willbe responsible for leading our service provision in West Essex at universal, targeted and specialist levels.

You will manage and develop the dysphagia service through leading on relevant projects and initiatives.

You will provide highly specialist assessment and management of infants, children and young people aged 0-19 withdysphagia across community settings and in local specialist educational provisions.

You will provide clinical supervision and line management to less experienced members of the team.

You will work closely withinthe wider Essex Child and Family Wellbeing Service including the Community Nursing Team, the Healthy Family Team, PaediatricCommunity Dietitian Service, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Services and Community Paediatricians as well as external colleagues and partners in Health, Education and Social Care.

Job responsibilities

The Ideal Candidate

You will have a degree qualification or equivalent in Speech and Language Therapy and post qualification training and experience in dysphagia. You will also be registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council and Royal College of Speech and Language Therapy. You will have access to regular clinical supervisionand ongoing continued professional development including through access to external clinical networks. You will be a part of team who recognises and celebrates clinical excellence steered by evidence-based practice.

As this is a community role, it is essential that you hold a valid UK driving licence and have access to a car for work purposes.
