Graduate Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Role in Chorlton-cum-Hardy

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Chorlton-cum-Hardy. The position offers a weekly pay of £419.25 - £500.

Role Overview:

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting both students and teachers, working across various departments to help students succeed academically and socially. This is an excellent position for recent graduates interested in pursuing a career in education or gaining hands-on experience in a secondary school environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Classroom Support: Assist teachers during lessons by supporting individual students or small groups to ensure they fully understand the material and stay engaged.
  • One-on-One Tutoring: Provide targeted support to students who may need additional help, particularly in core subjects, to improve their understanding and academic performance.
  • Behaviour Management: Help maintain a positive learning environment by managing student behaviour in line with the school’s behaviour policy.
  • Intervention Sessions: Conduct small group or one-on-one intervention sessions outside of regular lessons to focus on specific academic skills or knowledge gaps.
  • Administrative Assistance: Support teachers with lesson preparation, classroom organisation, and other administrative tasks that contribute to a smooth-running classroom.
  • Exam Preparation: Assist students with study techniques and revision strategies to support their preparation for upcoming exams.
  • Pastoral Support: Act as a mentor and positive role model, providing emotional and social support to help students develop confidence and resilience.
  • Extra-Curricular Activities: Support the delivery of extra-curricular clubs, homework sessions, or other school activities to promote student engagement and enrichment.

  • Degree Educated: A recent graduate in any subject, with a strong academic background and an interest in education.
  • Passionate About Student Progress: A desire to make a positive impact on students’ academic, personal, and social development.
  • Strong Communication Skills: The ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patient and Adaptable: Able to support students of varying abilities and respond calmly to classroom challenges.
