Humanities Graduate Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Position in Chorlton-cum-Hardy

Teaching Personnel is seeking a Humanities Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Chorlton-cum-Hardy. This is a full-time role, beginning in December and lasting until the end of the academic year, with the potential to transition into a permanent position based on performance. The weekly pay ranges from £419.25 - £500.

Role Overview:

As a Humanities Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the school’s Humanities department, supporting students in subjects such as History, Geography, and Religious Studies. This role is ideal for a recent graduate passionate about the humanities and considering a career in education.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Classroom Support: Assist teachers in delivering lessons across Humanities subjects, providing one-on-one and small group support to enhance student engagement and comprehension.
  • Tutoring and Intervention: Offer tailored support for students requiring additional help in Humanities, guiding them through challenging topics and supporting their academic growth.
  • Promoting Independent Learning: Encourage students to develop their analytical and critical-thinking skills by fostering independent learning practices.
  • Exam Preparation: Aid students in preparing for exams by reviewing material, conducting study sessions, and providing insights into effective revision strategies.
  • Lesson Preparation: Assist teachers in creating resources, setting up activities, and helping with lesson planning to ensure smooth delivery and variety in learning methods.
  • Encouraging Student Engagement: Inspire students to engage deeply with Humanities subjects by supporting discussions, guiding research, and helping with projects that encourage a deeper understanding of cultural, historical, and geographical contexts.
  • Pastoral and Mentoring Support: Offer guidance and support to students on personal and academic matters, contributing to a positive and productive learning environment.
  • Administrative Support: Help with tasks such as marking, organising resources, and managing lesson materials, ensuring teachers have the support they need.
  • Supporting Field Trips and Extracurricular Activities: Engage with students in extracurricular Humanities-related activities or field trips that enrich their learning experience beyond the classroom.
Ideal Candidate:
  • Humanities Graduate: A recent graduate with a strong background in History, Geography, Religious Studies, or a related field.
  • Passion for Education: A genuine enthusiasm for teaching and the ability to inspire a love for Humanities.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Effective in both written and verbal communication, with the ability to clearly explain concepts and support students at different academic levels.
  • Organised and Detail-Oriented: Skilled at managing time and tasks to assist in lesson planning and student support.
  • Flexible and Patient: Able to adapt to varying student needs and assist in classrooms with diverse abilities and learning styles.
  • Team-Oriented: Collaborative, with a commitment to working closely with staff and contributing to the Humanities department’s goals.
