English Graduate Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Position in Chorlton-cum-Hardy
Teaching Personnel is excited to offer a rewarding opportunity for an English Graduate Teaching Assistant at an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Chorlton-cum-Hardy. This full-time role commences in December and runs through the end of the academic year, with the potential for a permanent contract based on performance. The weekly pay for this role ranges from £419.25 - £500.
Role Overview:As an English Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will support English department teachers in delivering engaging, well-structured lessons while working directly with students to boost their understanding and achievement in English. This is a valuable position for recent English graduates who are interested in education and considering a career in teaching.
Key Responsibilities:- Classroom Support: Work alongside English teachers during lessons, assisting with classroom management, answering student questions, and providing additional explanations to help students grasp key concepts.
- One-on-One Tutoring: Provide individual support for students needing extra help in English, focusing on areas like reading comprehension, writing skills, and literary analysis.
- Literacy Intervention: Lead small intervention groups aimed at improving literacy skills, supporting students in developing their reading and writing abilities to meet academic standards.
- Assessment Preparation: Help students prepare for exams and assessments by offering revision techniques, reviewing past materials, and helping students develop study skills for English coursework.
- Encouraging Independent Learning: Guide students in building their confidence and independence as readers and writers, fostering skills that will aid them both academically and personally.
- Supporting Differentiated Instruction: Assist teachers in providing differentiated support to meet the needs of students across a range of abilities and learning styles.
- Mentoring and Pastoral Care: Act as a mentor, offering encouragement and positive reinforcement to help students engage fully and reach their potential.
- Administrative Support: Aid the English department in organising resources, setting up activities, and managing administrative tasks that facilitate smooth lesson delivery.
- Extra-Curricular Involvement: Support English-focused clubs, homework sessions, or extracurricular activities to enhance students’ appreciation and enthusiasm for English.
- English Graduate: A recent graduate with a strong academic background in English literature, language, or a related field.
- Passion for Education: An enthusiasm for teaching and the ability to inspire students’ love of literature and language.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey concepts and interact with students and staff.
- Patience and Flexibility: Able to adapt to students’ varying levels and respond thoughtfully to classroom dynamics.
- Organised and Detail-Oriented: Ability to manage time well, keep track of tasks, and assist with lesson preparations and student support.
- Collaborative and Supportive: A team player with a willingness to work closely with teaching staff and contribute to the school’s English department.
- Commitment to Safeguarding: Awareness and adherence to safeguarding policies to ensure a safe learning environment for students.

- Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday
