Science Graduate Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Role in Chorlton-cum-Hardy Teaching Personnel is pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a Science Graduate Teaching Assistant at an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Chorlton-cum-Hardy .
This full-time role begins in January and will run until the end of the academic year, with the potential for a permanent position based on performance.
The weekly pay for this role ranges from £419.25 to £500 , dependent on experience and qualifications.
About the Role This position is ideal for recent graduates in a science-related discipline who are considering a career in teaching or seeking valuable experience in an educational setting.
You will play a pivotal role in supporting students and teachers in the science department, helping to cultivate an engaging and enriching learning environment.
Key Responsibilities Classroom Assistance : Support science teachers in delivering lessons across disciplines such as biology, chemistry, and physics, ensuring students remain engaged and focused.
One-to-One and Small Group Support : Work with students requiring extra assistance, providing tailored interventions to improve understanding of scientific concepts and skills.
Practical Session Support : Assist with the setup and supervision of laboratory experiments, ensuring safety protocols are followed while enhancing students' practical learning experiences.
Resource Development : Help prepare and organise lesson materials, worksheets, and experiment kits to support differentiated learning strategies.
Mentoring : Act as a mentor to students, offering guidance and fostering a passion for science and academic success.
Progress Monitoring : Collaborate with teachers to track and assess students' progress, identifying areas for improvement and celebrating achievements.
Behaviour Management : Support the maintenance of a positive classroom environment, ensuring students remain on task and adhere to school policies.
The Ideal Candidate Science Graduate : A degree in a science-related subject such as biology, chemistry, physics, or a related field is essential.
Passion for Education : A genuine enthusiasm for teaching and inspiring students in science.
Strong Interpersonal Skills : Excellent communication and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
Organised and Proactive : Capable of managing multiple responsibilities and adapting to the needs of a dynamic school environment.
Experience (Desirable) : Any prior experience working with young people, such as tutoring, mentoring, or volunteering, is beneficial but not mandatory.
