Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Position in Levenshulme
Teaching Personnel is seeking a committed Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant for a full-time role at an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Levenshulme. This position starts in December and runs until the end of the academic year, with the potential for a permanent position based on performance. Weekly pay ranges from £419.25 to £500.
Role Overview:This role offers a unique opportunity to apply psychological knowledge in a practical school setting, providing essential support to students who may face challenges with learning, behavior, or social interactions. It’s ideal for psychology graduates considering careers in teaching, educational psychology, or youth support work, where you will gain firsthand experience working with diverse student needs.
Key Responsibilities:- Student Support: Offer focused assistance to students with learning differences, special educational needs (SEN), or social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges. You’ll work one-on-one or in small groups to build their confidence, social skills, and learning capabilities.
- Behavioral Guidance: Apply psychological strategies to help manage and support positive student behavior. Encourage constructive responses, emotional regulation, and interpersonal skills, addressing individual needs.
- Academic Assistance: Aid students in understanding curriculum content, helping them develop study skills, retain information, and approach tasks with greater independence.
- Progress Monitoring: Track and document student progress, assessing both academic development and behavioral improvements. Provide feedback to the teaching team to help inform tailored learning plans.
- Pastoral Care: Act as a support figure for students, offering emotional encouragement and a listening ear. Engage students in structured conversations and activities to help them feel understood and valued within the school community.
- Learning Environment Management: Assist classroom teachers in maintaining a calm, positive learning environment, ensuring students feel secure and focused.
- Group Activities and Workshops: Assist in leading group workshops and extracurricular activities that support social-emotional learning and allow students to explore topics related to personal growth and resilience.
- Administrative Support: Organize materials, prepare resources, and handle light administrative tasks to aid in lesson planning and classroom management.
- Psychology Graduate: Holds a degree in psychology or a related field and is eager to apply psychological insights in an educational setting.
- Passion for Student Development: Has a strong interest in working directly with students to support their academic, social, and emotional growth.
- Communication Skills: Capable of building rapport and trust with students, listening actively, and providing constructive guidance tailored to individual needs.
- Adaptable and Patient: Willing to adapt to different learning styles and committed to creating an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
- Collaborative and Reliable: Works well as part of a team, engaging positively with both staff and students to create a cohesive learning experience.
- Commitment to Safeguarding: Knowledgeable about safeguarding policies, dedicated to ensuring the welfare of all students.

- Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday
- Pay: £419.25 - £500 per week
